Valerie Passman

Valerie Passman, October 31, 1952 – June 24, 2025, a beloved mother, grandmother, partner, and friend, passed away peacefully in her home on June 24, 2025 at the age of 72. Born on Halloween in 1952 to Rosalie Passman (Harris) and Herbert Passman, Valerie brought a bright and distinctive spirit into the world, one marked by fierce independence, quiet strength, and boundless love.

She is survived by her daughter, Jessica Leigh Florez; son-in-law, Andres Florez; and the light of her life, her granddaughter, Lyanna Harris Florez, whom she adored beyond measure. Her bond with Lyanna was especially profound, an endless source of delight and pride that lit up her final years. She lived for the next photo or update, whether it was a simple bathtime picture, a daycare finger-painting, or even a video of a full-blown toddler tantrum. She was always the first to log into the family app to leave a loving comment, or jump, without hesitation, to Lyanna’s defense with warmth, humor, and fierce devotion.

Valerie also leaves behind her devoted partner, Billy Hauschild, whose companionship and love brought her deep comfort and joy in recent years. The bond they shared was truly singular—marked by deep understanding, quiet laughter, and unwavering support. There was an enduring peace in knowing they had found each other, even later in life, and that they always had each other’s backs.  She is also survived by her brother, Eric Passman, with whom she shared a meaningful bond rooted in shared history and experience.

Valerie was known for her humor and a depth of thoughtfulness that touched everyone around her. Her ability to meet people with empathy, patience, and often a well-timed laugh was one of her greatest gifts. Many who knew her have shared stories of how Valerie helped them through their darkest moments, sometimes with words, sometimes with presence, always with care. That quiet strength and unwavering kindness defined her and gave comfort to more people than she ever realized.

As her daughter grieves this profound loss, she finds strength in hearing these stories— testimonies to the remarkable impact Valerie had on so many lives. It is in these memories, carried forward by those she touched, that her spirit endures.

Though a formal funeral service will not be held at this time, the family will gather friends and loved ones for a celebration of Valerie’s life in the coming months, for a time to honor her memory, share stories, and remember the warmth and light she brought to those around her.

Valerie’s memory lives on in the hearts she touched and the family she cherished most. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered. May her memory be a blessing.
