Obituary For Shirley Crowley
We sadly announce that Shirley Ann (Boyd) Crowley, of Tuckerton, the Matriarch of our family, passed away Wednesday April 17, 2024. She was surrounded by family in her home in Tuckerton, New Jersey. Many summers ago, she was born in Ocean City, the third of four daughters of Thomas and Lillian Foglio Boyd, both predeceased.
Shirl was a strong, independent woman that exuded a pioneering spirit and a positive attitude that could not be extinguished. She had a long successful career in the printing industry, often claiming “I control chaos for a living.” Her passion for ballet started as a child and was with her until her last breath. She had an affection for travel, but her love of the beach always pulled her back to the Jersey shore.
She is preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband of 38 years, Chet C. Crowley. She is survived by her children, Heather (Don) Vogus and Carl (Jessica) Crowley. She is the loving “Grammy” to Allie (Zach) Freda, Matthew (Kimberly) Vogus, Anna (Kevin) Dougherty, Lauren Crowley, Rebecca Crowley, and Emma Crowley, and two great-grandsons (Theo and Luca)!
A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at Parsels Funeral Home at 324 New Jersey Avenue in Absecon, NJ. The family will receive visitors from 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. The Memorial Service will begin at 11:30 a.m. and all are invited. In lieu of flowers, the family is suggesting donations in Shirl’s name to the SAVE Rescue Shelter in Toms River, NJ or your local no-kill animal shelter. We shall not see your beautiful smile anymore, a smile that was so genuine and a reflection of who you were. Shirl, you always found a way to fix things and somehow knew just how to make everyone feel better. When your beloved Chet passed so suddenly you mourned him deeply, and yet you always knew in your heart he was by your side, and that you would meet again. Your world as you knew it changed forever and yet somehow you found the strength to carry on and move forward with your life. You were a very important part in the lives of your children and your grandchildren, in spite of your personal sorrow. They all share special memories of their mom and Grammy. I know you will leave a big hole in the lives of your family and the many friends that loved you. The strong, determined, compassionate lady we all loved never gave when up when dark clouds gathered around you. Your strong faith and belief sustained you, and now you are in the arms of the Angels along with your sweetheart Chet. Goodbye my dear friend, may you rest in peace, and as you always said when we parted, I will say it back to you one last time "Hugs" from us both. Jackie and Roger Wakefield

Shirl Crowley was one of a kind, and I'm thankful to have known her for the past (almost) 40 years. She was both a friend and a co-worker. She always had a smile on her face and never a bad word for friend or foe. Shirl was smart, quick witted, and being around her made the world a better place. Rest in peace my dear friend.
