Rita Sacchetti, 97, of Ventnor, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 9, 2026.
Born in Philadelphia on October 28, 1928, Rita was a woman of immense grit and grace who found joy in keeping a spotless home and an open kitchen. Those who knew Rita were well aware of the fierce love she had for her children and the many sacrifices she made while raising her family. Cooking was Rita’s love language and she was known for preparing legendary traditional meals for family and friends. Sundays were family days, and she lovingly cooked for her children and grandchildren for as long as she was able. Throughout her life, Rita worked in several places, eventually landing at the Carriage House in Gibbsboro, NJ, where she found her greatest enjoyment as a server and continued working with dedication until the age of 87. In her later years, Rita enjoyed walking the boardwalk, crocheting, and playing Wordle with family and with Maureen and Dawn, both of whom provided her with the most loving and devoted care. She was also quite fond of their loyal four-legged companion, Cooper, who brought her great comfort and joy.
Rita is predeceased by her parents, Nicolas and Teresa Carbonara; her brother, Charles Carbonara; and her sister, Joanne Napoliello. She is survived by her two children, Michael Sacchetti (Monica) and Maureen Sacchetti (DawnMarie Friel); five grandchildren, Marian, Elyse, Nicolas, Gianna and Kevin; nine great-grandchildren; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, dear friends, and other cherished relatives.
In accordance with Rita’s wishes, there will be no viewing; however, visitation will be 9:45AM to 10:45AM on Monday, March 16, 2026, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 591 New Jersey Ave., Absecon. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11:00AM. Memorial donations may be made to: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital Or Shore Memorial Cancer Center
