Mildred Rose Wittenmeyer, a resident of Galloway Township since the 1940s, born in West Portal, NJ, passed peaceably on October 10, 2011. “Millie” never drove a car and bussed to Kravitz Manufacturing, an Arctic Ave. clothing manufacturer in Atlantic City. She enjoyed raising vegetables and flowers to share with family and neighbors. Millie also enjoyed entertaining family and friends with her fine cooking.
Millie was preceded by her beloved husband Joseph W. Wittenmeyer, who worked as a mechanic at Bartlett’s Chevrolet in Absecon, and son-in-law Andrew J. Applegate III of Galloway. She is survived by her loving daughter Marilyn M. Applegate of Galloway, her grandson Andrew J. Applegate IV and his wife Chris of Georgetown, MA, great-grandchildren Andrew J Applegate V of Georgetown, MA and Vincent Applegate of Orlando, FL, plus one great-great-grandson. She is also survived by her older sister Ruth Kranich of Eustis, FL and Ruth’s son John Kranich and family of Altoona, FL.
Visitation will be 7PM to 9PM Friday, October 14, 2011 at Parsels Funeral Home, 324 New Jersey Ave., Absecon. A funeral mass will be offered 11:30AM Saturday at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Absecon. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Mays Landing.
