Mary Lou Ruffu Birkbeck

Mary Lou Ruffu Birkbeck, of Absecon, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loved ones, on January 31, 2021, after a long battle with cancer. Born in Atlantic City, she’s lived in Absecon for the past 18 yearsMarylou worked as a restaurant manager in the casino industry for 30 years. She was an avid gardener and was a high heel shoe connoisseur. Always the life of the party, she was a natural entertainer. She loved hosting her annual Christmas Eve party for her family and friends.

Marylou is predeceased by her parents, William and Mary Laigaie; and her brother, Joe Laigaie. She will be dearly missed by her loving husband, Barry Birkbeck; her two sons, Mark and Billy Ruffu; her granddaughter, Jessica; step-son, Brian Birkbeck and his wife, Mindy; sister, Sabrina Walsh; as well as her many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be 9:30AM to 10:30AM on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at Parsels Funeral Home, 324 New Jersey Ave., Absecon. A funeral mass will be offered at 11:00AM at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 591 New Jersey Ave., Absecon. Entombment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery, Mays Landing.
