Marjorie Stires Loeb, 85, of Gallaway, NJ passed away Friday, December 12, 2025. Marjorie (Marge) was born in Somerville, NJ on September 13, 1940 to Joseph Stanley and Elenore Davis Stires. Somerville was where she, at a young age, first met her beloved husband Franklin X. Loeb. Marjorie graduated Wilson College in 1962 and married Frank the same year. She resided most of her life with her husband and two children in Absecon, NJ. Prior to that, she and her husband lived in Bethesda, MD, Carlsbad, CA, and New Orleans.
Her life was filled with raising her two children, Virginia and Christian, helping her husband in his pediatric practice, and always being involved in their church— Absecon Presbyterian Church. Marge was well known and loved for her incredible spirit. She showed it through her love for family and friends, her church, all the animals she cared for over the years, and music she enjoyed, of all genres. She was usually humming or singing either a church hymn or a current pop or rock song — she loved music! We all have wonderful memories of her sitting down at her keyboard, or brother Dave’s baby Grand piano, and playing a song. A simple thing as a new red lipstick brought her joy, as did a cocktail and some steamed clams.
Marge is survived by her son, Christian X. Loeb, his wife, and their three children of Absecon, NJ; her sister-in-law, Alicia Stires of Memphis, TN; and numerous nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. Among them was her niece, Lisa Stires Schuyler of Ringoes, NJ, who lovingly oversaw Marge’s care for the past 10 years. Lisa did an extraordinary job ensuring that Marge was always well cared for, supported, and surrounded by love, and her devotion was a true gift to Marge and to the entire family.
Marge was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Dr. Franklin X. Loeb; her daughter, Virginia X. Loeb; and her two brothers, Leland Stanley Stires and David Milton Stires.
Marjorie’s incredible spirit continued to shine throughout the last 10+ years of her life as she
battled Alzheimer’s disease. No matter the circumstances, she greeted everyone with a smile and brought warmth and joy to those around her. It would be impossible to tell her story without mentioning Betty and Monica, her devoted caregivers and friends throughout those years. They brought Marjorie joy each and every day and stood by her through the difficult times, including the challenges of COVID. Their love, friendship, and dedication will forever be cherished, and they will always hold a special place in our hearts as two of her most precious angels.
