Mario Nicholas Palmentieri, 81 years old, of Lady Lake, FL, passed away, June 13, 2026. Born in Atlantic City, NJ, he spent the first 30 years of his life living in the Chelsea Heights/Atlantic City area. He was a graduate of Atlantic City High School, class of ‘62, and attended every reunion when he was able. When he left Atlantic City, he moved to Absecon, NJ, where he remained until his retirement in 2006. He then headed south to Florida and settled in Lady Lake, which would become his permanent residence. Starting in 1966, he proudly worked as an electrician with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers for 40 years before retiring in 2000. He was recently honored by IBEW Local 351 for 60 years of membership.
Mario was always an athlete and played basketball, football, and baseball in his youth. As he matured, he became an avid player of racquetball, squash, badminton, and was even briefly an amateur boxer, which was his favorite sport to watch. After moving to Florida, he began playing pickleball. He competed in tournaments in his community and won many awards for his prowess. But his main passion throughout his life was freshwater fishing. He was always seeking the next “Big One”, and he had hundreds of photos documenting his latest catch, boasting to all. He also enjoyed listening to Doo-wop and Italian music. He was very proud of his Italian heritage.
Mario is predeceased by his father, Angelo Ralph Palmentieri, mother, Marie Gervasi Palmentieri; brothers, John and Louis; and stepson, Michael J. Cox. He is survived by his brother, Michael and his wife, Eileen; his sister-in-law, Mary; his children, Diane Palmentieri-Tolson and husband Dennis, Mario and his wife Jennifer and Stephanie Palmentieri; he is also survived by his 5 grandchildren, Jessica Mencia and husband William, Carl Rando III and his wife Alexa, Hope Palmentieri, Noah Palmentieri and Naomi Cox; his 7 great-grandchildren, Cayla, Madison, Breanna, Carl IV, Connor, Kaiden and William; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
A memorial gathering will be 5:00PM to 7:00PM on Monday, June 22, 2026, at Parsels Funeral Home, 324 New Jersey Ave., Absecon. A service will be at 6:30PM. Burial will be private. Online condolences may be placed at www.parselsfh.com.
