John (Jack) L. Sanders, age 77, of Absecon, passed away peacefully on June 11, 2026. Born in Somers Point, NJ, Jack grew up in Pleasantville and remained a lifelong resident of the area.
Jack was a dedicated worker, spending his career as a lineman and safety coordinator for Atlantic City Electric until his retirement in 2004. A proud veteran, he served his country in the United States Army and retired from the Army Reserves after 24 years of dedicated service. He also was a dedicated firefighter with many departments including Pleasantville, Absecon, Bayview, and South Egg Harbor for over 20 years.
Outside of work and service, Jack was a man of many passions. He loved the great outdoors, frequently spending his time hunting, fishing, and snowmobiling. He was an avid fan of NASCAR and Notre Dame football and he possessed a creative side, lovingly collecting O scale trains and building model cars. Those who knew him will fondly remember his love for music, dancing, and above all, the cherished time he spent with his grandchildren.
Jack was predeceased by his parents, John (Jack) S. Sanders and Joelette (Betty) B. Sanders; his beloved granddaughter, Sarah Rose Bocelle; and his faithful companion, Cheech Dog.
He is survived by his loving wife, Lois B. Sanders; his children, Zachary P. Bocelle (Maria), Lisa M. Bocelle Miller (Chris), and Carrie Lynne Sanders-Hotlen (Ryan); his grandchildren, Dakota Bocelle, Nathan Bocelle, Raelynne Miller, Layla Miller, Margaret (Maggie) Rae Hotlen, and Cash Miller; and his great-grandson, Grayson Bocelle. He also leaves behind his sister, Donna Johnson (Wayne), and his brother, William Sanders.
