Joan Pacula Power, 89, passed away on December 2, 2025. She was born in Atlantic City on Virginia Ave and grew up in Pleasantville with her sister, Nancy Potter and her parents, Florence and John Pacula, owners of the Home Plate restaurant. She graduated from Pleasantville high school in 1954. At 19, Joanie married Ned Randall and moved briefly to Ohio. Homesick for her family, Joanie and her son, Donnie returned to the Jersey Shore, where she worked as a cashier for Bell Telephone. It was there she met the handsome, blue-eyed, Frank Power, who would become her husband and the father of three additional children. Together they built a home in Galloway where they raised the family and created a lifetime of memories.
A devoted homemaker for many years, Joanie loved being a PTA mom and attending school and community activities her children were part of. Later, she worked as a bookkeeper in Stockton College's office of campus activities where she remained until her retirement. In retirement she found joy in painting, entering many of her beautiful works in local art shows. She loved traveling to the Outer Banks, spending time on the water and cruising with her companion, Ray. She was a familiar face at sporting events and theater productions of her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved all kinds of music and danced as if no one was watching. She enjoyed a good glass of wine, a good book and recently discovered Espresso martinis. Over the Thanksgiving holiday she was blessed by several visits from her many grandchildren and great- grandchildren, a gift they will always treasure. Joanie was a fiercely stubborn, funny, and a woman ahead of her time.
She is survived by her sister, Nancy Jean Potter (Donna, Eddie and Patty); her children, each of whom she lovingly referred to as her favorite, Don Randall (Leslie), Frank Power Jr. (Elizabeth), Suzanne McGettigan (PJ) and Linda Power; she is also survived by her cherished grandchildren, Heather, Christopher, Caitlin, Josh, Stephanie, Evan, Pat, Sean, Brett, DJ, Cody, Rachel and Jolyn and eight great-grandchildren. She also had a unique bond with her evil cat, Irma, who loved her and only her.
A service to honor and celebrate Joanies life will be held on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at Parsels Funeral Home in Absecon from 11AM -1PM. The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Seashore Gardens rehab and AtlantiCare 2 West and ER staff. For online condolences, please visit www.parselsfh.com.
