Jean Danley

Its with the heaviest of beating hearts we share the passing of Jean (Cheesman) Danley. Born to Julia Conto and William Cheesman in Clayton, NJ where her childhood was grounded by loving and close fabulous family roots. Jean's relationship with her brother Mark was one of a kind. It was filled with closeness, protection and certainly a lot of fun and countless laughs. Jean idolized her brother, truly adored him and in life loved his visits and their trips to the casinos. During her young years Jean operated the family store independently and was very well known and through her entire life has been loved by so so many. One of Jean's fondest memories she shared was when she "led the Clayton High School Marching Band right down the center of Delsea Drive" being the Lead Majorette. When asked why, her reply was "because I could", with her remarkable sense of humor and laugh.

At twenty-three years old she met the love of her life, John Danley at the Franklinville Skating Center. Another memory that Jean often shared with SUCH gratitude was how much her parents loved John and because of travel distance for John to see Jean, they made a room for him so after skating, he didn't have to travel that distance. John and Jean continued their love of roller skating at the Ventnor Skating Rink, then introducing the sport to their daughters, then granddaughters, spending decades at Young's Skating Center. Jean and John did everything together and as family. Once John was asked if it was "love at first sight"...he tilted his head, smiled from his eyes and ear to ear with delight and said "Yes, it sure was and it still is." Jean was one of those people you just love!

Just as always and forever a devoted wife and dedicated homemaker Jean was, is and always will be an equally loving Mother to two daughters. A grandmother to two, a great -grandmother to three other kids (last count) and shorted in life, just as Dad was, by not knowing them, certainly at no fault of their own.

54 beautiful years with John were spent truly in love. Everyday and in everyway were spent protecting their love, sharing, caring, helping, loving unconditionally, respecting and raising their family, together. Eleven years after John's passing and 61 years in their cherished family Galloway home, Jean accepted the what seemed like forever asking and loving invitation of living and being loved even more by her youngest daughter Janice in her home with her and her two daughters, Reabekka Jean and Roxann Johnette. Jean got to spend the last 4 years and 3 days surrounded with nothing but returned to her a lifetime of unconditional love, support, understanding, comfort, her favorite things, her favorite people and being shown appreciation for all she has done and given to and for her family. Jean's heart was full, full of softness, kindness, love and understanding. If you were in her life, you were loved. A daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother who gave her all and then so much more. To the end, she protected us, her family, as such a wonderful loving Mother and Guma does.

Jean thought the world of her granddaughters Reabekka and Roxann, lovingly called Roxi. She very often would tell Reabekka that she is "amazing" and that Roxi is "precious." What a gift, each day, a precious gift it has been caring for Mom, lovingly known as Guma by many. Such an honor to call her, my Mom. Reabekka Jean and Jean shared an extremely close and loving relationship as many days Reabekka spent around the clock with Jean while admitted in the hospital over those years. Jean would be "so relieved" of that and found such comfort in her Reabekka. And her Roxi, equally shared so many special moments, in very special ways making Guma smile, laugh and giving her beautiful memories to have. Jean was cherished and truly our treasured times together will be ones held forever closely in our hearts.

God bless you Mommy, thank you for EVERYTHING you've done, sacrificed and gave. Our love will never end.

Visitation will be 12PM to 1PM on Thursday, July 23, 2026 at Parsels Funeral Home, 324 New Jersey Ave., Absecon. A service will follow at 1PM. Graveside service will follow at Adams Cemetery, Port Republic. In honor of Jean's request, please, find comfort in knowing the gathering will be a closed viewing.
