Donna Connell

Donna "Nanny" Connell (née Clarke), a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on May 18, 2026, in Atlantic City, New Jersey. She was 74 years old. Born on October 29, 1951, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Donna lived a life filled with love, kindness, and devotion to her family and passions.

Donna graduated from Atlantic City High School in 1970 and continued her education at Atlantic Community College, earning her degree in 1972. She dedicated her career to the Egg Harbor Township School District, where she made a lasting impact through her work.

Donna shared a beautiful life with her husband, Joseph Connell. Together they raised three children: Bobbi Gunnels (John), Devon Connell, and the late Joel Connell, who predeceased her. She was also the proud grandmother of Robyn (Hannah), Abigail, Riley, and Ella. Donna’s siblings Randy Clarke (Georgeanne), Michael Russo, Jackie Brown, and Robert Spitzer survive her as well. She was predeceased by her parents, Ronald P. Clarke and Anne Russo; and her brother, Ronald Clarke. Donna’s extended family included numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews who cherished her deeply.

A woman of many interests and joys, Donna found happiness in simple pleasures, like spending time at the beach with her "fur babies," Jude, JoJo, and Desmond. A devoted fan of The Beatles, their music brought inspiration to her life, a sentiment beautifully captured in one of their lyrics she held dear: "And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make."

Donna's memory will forever be treasured by those who knew her. Her warmth and compassion left an indelible mark on everyone she encountered.

May Donna's legacy of love bring comfort to all who mourn her passing. A Memorial Gathering will be held on May 27, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, with a service at 12:00 PM at Parsels Funeral Home 324 New Jersey Avenue, Absecon.
