Daniel F. Magee

Magee, Daniel, ‘Dan’, 47, of Absecon, passed away April 25, 2015, surrounded by the loving prayers and warm thoughts of family and friends. Dan was born in Atlantic City NJ. He attended Absecon Public Schools and graduated from Holy Spirit High School, Class of 1986. At “Spirit,” he was an active participant in the crew program. Dan’s childhood was a pleasing one, especially when shared with his happy go lucky friends and teammates. He also enjoyed exciting times participating in many baseball and soccer activities. Dan possessed a kind heart and had a spirited infectious laugh. Over the years, Dan held many interesting jobs. However, working with his brother Blaine (BEE Landscaping) proved the most rewarding. He so enjoyed sharing special times with the many customers and the new found friends they encountered each day. Together, they teased about pledging their efforts to help beautify the City of Absecon, “one lawn at a time.”

Throughout his life, Dan suffered from mental illness, and although his struggles were many, he remained courageous during his daily on-going ordeals. No matter how difficult the fight, Dan never gave up hope, because he sincerely recognized the constant support of each one of his loving family and friends.

Dan is survived by his parents Peter C. and JoAnn Elco, grandmother Anne Elco, sister Lori Rebstock (Kyle) brother Blaine Elco, nephews Shane & Ethan Rebstock, and niece Julie Rebstock. Dan also leaves behind: uncles Edward Jerome (MaryAnn), Michael Magee (Barbara), Ronald Magee (Linda), Paul Elco and aunts Sylvia French (Charlie), Sandy Hartwell (Charlie), Florence Magee, Anne Havens, Kathy Boice, and many loving cousins. Dan is predeceased by his father Frank Magee, grandparents John and Helen Magee, uncle Jack Magee, grandparents Joseph and Anna Jerome, cousin Joseph Jerome and grandfather Peter Elco. Dan truly treasured his family.

At this time, Dan’s family wishes to extend special gratitude to Dr. Gomez and his staff at AtlantiCare for their on-going professional commitment and care. We also acknowledge the role NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) played in helping our family by offering education for the family, practical resources, and sharing friendships.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Dan’s visitation on Saturday, May 9, 2015, from 9:00AM until 11:30AM at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, 591 New Jersey Ave., Absecon. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30AM. At the request of the family, the interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to NAMI Atlantic County, (National Alliance on Mental Illness) P.O. Box 1557, Absecon, NJ 08201. Or NAMIac.org.
